Modern life is full of colour, pace and energy. So, it’s easy to get caught up in the everyday hustle and bustle of work life and forget to reconnect with our inner beings. Our inner self is often the person we are when we are at home; surrounded by the living spaces we have created to reflect our personal passions and interests.
British soft furnishings designer has launched its new ‘Serenity Collection’ including a nature inspired lounger, pouffe and connecting floor cushions. We think the laid back, simplistic and honest style of the collection is perfect for creating that sacred spot at home for reflecting on the day.
We spoke with ICON’s own #QueenofSerene and star of their Serenity campaign, Stephanie Grieve about her home, design style and the ways she likes to find serenity in the city.
What does ‘Queen of Serene’ mean to you?
I think it’s about owning your own state of inner balance. Anyone can be a Queen of Serene, and I think it’s really important in today’s society that we all try to find the time each day to feel comfortable, calm and content, just being ourselves in a moment.
What’s your home like?
I live in a modern, natural lit flat. Everything is white with black detailed frames and a beautiful large palm plant that breaks up the room with a dash of green.
What is the most important thing to look for in a space to live in?
I really love natural light. I feel that it creates a more peaceful and happy vibe in the home.
If you could change one thing about your home what would it be?
I would love to have even more windows!! I already have huge ones but like I said before – the more light the happier I am!
What would a perfect day be like for you?
Wake up in the morning with my partner. Bacon and egg bagel. Balcony doors open with sun glaring in. Go on a drive somewhere new and fall in love with him even more.
What do you do to relax?
I like to curl up on the sofa or in my bed with a blanket and a hot water bottle watching rubbish TV with a gin.
What’s your favourite space in the home?
Definitely my bed! I love tons of pillows and cushions to cuddle in too.
Do you have any top tips on how to achieve balance and connectivity while living in the city?
I would probably say just always try to add a little colour to your day. The city can get pretty grey sometimes, especially on rainy days, so filling your home with splashes of colour helps. Also, eating well and waking up early to avoid feeling sluggish and slow, and always try to take small trips away to the coast or country to soak up as much nature as possible!
What in your opinion is the key to contentment?
Being optimistic, open minded and always trying to have fun with what you are doing.
